Ukraine Psychological Reconstruction Initiative & Conferences

When the war ends, Ukraine’s reconstruction needs will be on a scale unlike anything seen in Europe since 1945. The $750 billion reconstruction and recovery bill estimated in mid-2023  will have risen significantly. And that only covers the hardware of recovery — the steel and concrete to rebuild entire devastated cityscapes and landscapes.

Just as urgent is the need to invest in the software – the psychosocial recovery that requires an unprecedented provision of mental health services.

The challenges are enormous, and the mental health infrastructure in Ukraine is currently unable to meet the need.

Connect. Collaborate. Construct

The Ukraine Psychological Reconstruction Initiative’s main program is a series of international conferences that bring together psychologists and other mental health professionals; researchers and educators; employers; local, regional and national government officials; representatives from civil society organizations and other stakeholders from Ukraine, the UK, US and elsewhere.

Conferences are action-oriented, geared toward developing solutions for systemic deficiencies in the delivery of mental health services.

There exists a wealth of knowledge around the world that should be harnessed to ensure that Ukraine’s psychosocial recovery is the best that it can be.

An integrated, inclusive, interconnected approach serves the people of Ukraine first and foremost, while also reducing risk for the donors and investors who are funding the creation of a new economy.

The first conference is planned for Spring 2025. More information will be published as plans develop.
